    Scope for Stealth 6.5 CM

Just purchased a Stealth in 6.5 CM and now I need a scope for it. I’ll mainly be shooting at 200, however if a buddy of mine come through (very good chance) I’ll be able to stretch that out to 600+/-. I have the model narrowed down to either an Athlon Argos 6-24x50 or 8-34x56. With the above mentioned which would serve me better, also what size rings should I use? Thanks for the help.

6-24x50 will be plenty of optic out past 1000 yards. I put the Sightron 6-24x50 on my 260 Rem and I used a 20 MOA Blackhawk rail and their Medium height 6 hole tactical rings.

    Just my experience.

Welcome to the club!! I just finished the 260 about 6-8 months ago for the same purpose... The weather is just now getting nice enough to take it out. It's a 1/4 MOA shooter out to 450 yards (farthest I've been able to stretch it).

I use a cheap pair of 30mm Weaver Tactical 4 hole rings for my 6-24x50 Argos that sits on my .222 Rem700 trainer. They work great I believe they are the medium height and I would imagine work for your Stealth.

I have an argos and it is an alright scope. I think it should do fine for what you want it for. I would go with the 6-24. unless you are looking for great up close groups, there is no reason to go higher than 20-25.

I initially mounted a SWFA SS 10x42 on mine with SWFA SS rings and had no issues getting consistent hits all the way out to 800 meters and hits at 1000 meters with some difficulty due to my shooting abilities but consistent enough to be getting over 70% hit ratio once dialed in. Even tried to take it to 1 mile (1600 meters) but only had 5 rounds and couldn't get it walked on in time with difficulties spotting the fall of shot however all my shots line (azimuth) were good and dead on in line just ran out of rounds before I got my elevation dialed in or held over I should say seeing how I ran out of elevation adjustment.

If you don't want to spend overly that much the SWFA SS would be enough to shoot 600 meters easy and you could always get it in 16X power for a little more magnification which is what I wish I did.

With that being said I've heard good things of Athlon's for the money and if you can afford it they will serve you quite well. I would advise against an 8-34 as you will notice a lot more undesirable attributes in the glass quality. It's way more zoom than you need. Even on my Bushnell XRS 2 with the good glass it has, is a little too dark for shooting distances pass 1000 meters in more than 25x in less than optimal conditions which is why if I'm running past 500 meters I only use 20-25x max.

The first questions that come to my mind is what is your price range and what is your purpose?

One thing to consider with any new scope including an Athlon scope is whether or not it is a first focal plane model as the reticle will grow with the magnification, and the reticle hairs on my buddies Athlon are not exactly razor thin. At max power they occlude a lot of detail, whereas my Sightron III 8-36x56 has very fine cross hairs and target dot that does not grow with magnification. It's still way too much power for 200 yds, but you can always dial it back and enjoy the advantage of a much larger eye box at lower power settings.

IIRC, objective lens diameter divided by magnification= exit pupil in mm.

    56mm at 36x=1.55mm
    56mm at 18x=3.11mm
Banning a gun will not solve what is a mental health crisis inflamed by incendiary rhetoric on social and television media. The first amendment in this case is less precious and more likely the causal factor than the second amendment.

I "stole" the gun from a guy that needed moneyNOW…his price not mine. Anyway, I’ll mainlybe poking holes in paper with some varmint hunting thrown in as well. Needless to say I would like to keep the costas low as possible, however I’m also a buy once, cry once guy.
