    Just ordered a 110 tactical in .308

    Hello,
New member here.I just ordered a 110 Tactical with the accustock in a .308 caliber .
They sent an email today saying it would ship next week.
When it gets here are there anything's I need to check before accepting from the FFL?
Any common defects ,cracks, or visual problems?
I know they say to check bolt tightness in scope rails, etc.
Are there any other things to check that might affect accuracy or reliability later?
    Thanks for the info,
    Jack

Just look for obvious. No, there are no aesthetic problems considered to be frequent. The things that general happen with Savages, you won’t know until you shoot it.

As for the scope, rings & rail I tell everyone this… remove everything, clean it all, then remount & torque all the fasteners yourself. Same with the Action Screws. Just loosen & retorque. That way you all those values are correct, & it will save time down the road if accuracy problems arise. Takes that aspect off the table. But that’s just me. Mounting & bore sighting is very easy. You can order a laser bore sight online fir $10 or so. And even an inch/pound torque wrench or driver can be found very inexpensive.

The only really bad things would be a bore that is obviously screwed up, like rifling on one side and not the other. Or a chamber obviously off center (remove bolt and look inside). Check for scope being in line with receiver. Crooked barrel (not lined up with receiver). Check for function.

And, yes, I have seen those things wrong with rifles before. The crooked barrel was on a $4000 custom rifle (not mine and it was obvious just looking at it).

    I have 7 Savage 110s dating back to 2008.

Never had a problem with a new Savage rifle that kept it from shooting very accurately right out of the box.
I did have a problem with a 12 LRP 6.5mm CM that showed high- pressure symptoms.
It was a real tack driver, but even light loads showed pressure signs.
Savage had me return it and bored out the chamber a couple of thousandths and sent it back in two weeks later.
No loss of accuracy, but no more high-pressure symptoms. I chalked that up to the chamber reamer being worn at the end of its life.

Not a problem that anyone could have noticed in inspection.

Good luck with your new Savage.
