Lite varmint in sporter stock?

Anyone opened the barrel channel on a sporter (wood) stock to fit a "lite varmint" or "heavy sporter"?

Any tips for the taper? Let me know. TIA

I opened up my Prairie hunter Stock from Boyds to fit my heavy sporter CBI barrel. Fit no problem... I used a wooden dowel and sandpaper. When this barrel is toast, I will be ordering a lite varmint to put in it next, as I believe it will also fit. Used a 5/8" dowel for the heavy sporter.
