My "new" 99 ser A037408 from 1969 (according to the thread on this site) has "OV 6" stamped on the stock under the buttplate, as well as in chalk on the buttplate itself. The stock is walnut. Also, the lever boss is stamped "25w" What would be the significance of these marks? My assumption is that OV 6 relates to the type and size of the stock and the buttplate is marked similarly to match the proper butt fit out of a box of buttplates. I read that the boss mark has to do with date of manufacture, but what does 25w actually mean?
Thanks... Breen.
