    re-barrel questions converting 7mag to 300wsm

Is the savage 110 7 rem. mag. a large shank?
    Will the bolt face work?
And what will i need to do with the mag well box?

I believe the newer ones are LS. My 300wsm is LS. The newer ones are back to SS IIR but I guess it could be what they feel like producing and what they have on hand.

Here are some measurements for you

Small shank: 7/8" lock nut, 1.055" shank
Larger shank: 5/8" lock nut, 1.120" shank

Do nothing with the mag well - it will be a longer stroke is all. You will need a new barrel.

the 7 Mag is almost certainly small shank. Nothing wrong with 7 Mag for hunting, also easily be changed tom 30 Win Mag 30 WSM may not feed well.

7mag is small shank. A factory Wsm barrel is large shank 95% of the time

Found a model 14 in 270 wsm. I bought it. Planning to re barrel it in 300 wsm. I just finished re barreling a 16 with a xcaliber barrel. It is shooting half moa. Had it out to 550 yds yesterday.
