Savage 1907 (mfg 1909) Metal Grips

About the time I thought I was done, this one appeared. I needed an early Savage with metal grips to fill the gap I'll have to say I'm pleased with the quality for an early metal grip model.

I just received a letter on the pistol from The Savage Historical Department.

Interesting, I own a model 1895 octagon barrel that was shipped to the same place. They must have sold alot for Savage because an old buddy Wes had an 1899 octagon in 38-55 shipped to the same place as well.

It seems the Simmons hardware company in St Louis Missouri was founded in 1874, it would appear that they were a big outfit and apparently had a pretty strong relationship with Savage for selling their products.
