    Range time with some oldies

Had a chance to get some shooting in today. Instead of high dollar precision rifles we took out some old school stuff including 3 model 99's. The 99's worked flawlessly of course even though a couple of them are hitting the 100 year old mark.... the other two we took I just acquired. First one is an unaltered Remington model 8 in 30remington and a model 14 in the same caliber. That model 8 is a flat hoot to play around with, one of the funnest days I've had plinking around in quite awhile.

As a paid member posting pictures straight from your computer is pretty easy:

Sounds fun! The Model 8 is a John Browning design.

As I kid I lusted over a Remington Model 14 in .35 Rem that a family friend owned. (We had .22 rimfire Model 12 - that I still own). Seemed like the best possible whitetail gun for thick cover. Still makes a lot of sense

Mine spent some time in a saddle scabard during a cow elk hunt this year. Even though I never got it out, It sure was happy doing what old-man savage designed them
To do. I recently was handed down my grandpas 99 in 243. Although it has been scoped and probably has little collectors value, it's absolutely priceless to me. I remember many deer hunts on the back of his horse with that old gun sitting it's scabard.

Its fun shooting old guns, and they company that comes with them. Some of my best memories are shooting my grandpas Rem model 33. I think Im going to start looking for one.

I recently got a 1937 production 99 .30-30. Barely used and in nearly new condition, she's completely original and she SHOOTS! Can't wait to blood her this year!
Wasn't looking for her, but am so glad I found her. Before Bubba! All I'm planning to do is add an aperture sight.
