Custom Action opened up to 1.120 x 20 TPI

Any reason one shouldn't get an aftermarket action opened up to accept large shank barrels? It seems like the best of both worlds. It'd give me a CRF action, M70 style safety, M700 footprint, and better trigger options.

I'm thinking the large shank because many barrel manufacturers will not put WSM/SAUM/RUM chambers in small shank barrels.

There's a shop localish to me selling what are basically Legendary Arms Works 704s for $500. Seems like a great deal.

Cool. I don't know anything about it but a good custom for $500 is a buy.

Opening up a perfectly good custom would give me pause. . But I'm a wimp.

Could you send the name and address of the shop selling those actions for $500.00? I went to the Legendary site and the cheapest I could find one of their actions was $974.00. Here's a link to the site.

You might want to ask Legendary Arms if that is a good idea or not......

Well I found a barrel nut option. Bugholes.com has "bug nuts" and it's probably the way I'll go. It's basically a shouldered barrel using the nut to set final head spacing.

The main reason I wanted to open the action threads was to utilize large shanks for magnum chamberings. It seemed like Remage barrels were held to basically the same no .550 cases in the smaller tenon sizes.
