    what barrel for rebarraling?

I have an axis 1 in 223rem but I also have an axis 2HB in 223rem and I'm thinking I need to rebarrel it into something else. I have hear comments about E.R shaw being not so great but other barrels I could just go buy a whole new rifle. Part of me says go 243 or 22-250 for coyotes or maybe get into 22hornet or something like that.

    Any thoughts?

I have one Savage prefit 264wm barrel and it shoot 3/4" groups at 20 yards with hand loads. I also have one on a Colombian 98 mauser. Both guns shoot very very good.

Take a look at EA Brown...they have savage prefit barrels...that's where I got my 264wm from.

I've heard great things about the Criterion and would be my choice if EA Brown didn't have the caliber I wanted.

What is the goal? I would like a 223 rem AI with a 7 twist barrel, throated for 80+gr slippery bullets. Or maybe a 6mm dasher, or a 7mm-08. I might be wrong, but you could do a 22 nosler and keep your current bolt head.

Another very accurate caliber that I could shoot woodchucks, coyotes and paper with.
