    Savage Wood Stock

Have a stock that was a wood sporter. Added some wood to the forearm and sanded/painted. It needs some abrasive value to the pistol grip and the forearm sides. Is there a glue-on "paper" that would replace the checkering? It's a great stock and it's bedded to my action and barrel.

Look at Talon Grips, you can get it by the sheet in rubber or granulate (sandpaper). Check Amazon.

What are you "painting" the stock with? I have used the non-slip paint additive. There is a really fine grade that are available at paint stores - much finer than sand, almost a powder consistency. Can be added to polyurethane for a non-slip finish. When adding to the finish, it generally has to sit a couple of days to disperse properly in the finish. You can then mask off an area and "paint".

I painted my Hardwood Axis with rock texture spray paint on the grip points and then covered the whole thing with cold epoxy paint...you can just make out the texture in the below pic.
