Yes, barrel size is Savage small shank.
I have a Mdl. 200 Stevens chambered in .223 Rem. now from what I have read on here it is the same as a Mdl.10 which has a 4.25 action screw spacing. I measured the action screw spacing on my Steven 200 action and they measure out at 4.420 center to center, I checked it several times. From what I have read it should be a 3rd Gen short action. When I go to order a barrel it should be a Mdl. 10 short action small shank barrel? Please correct me on any I have wrong.
Steve.........

Why the difference in screw spacing for short actions? I guess it's something Savage does and doesn't consult us. Is the action described a third gen short action?
Steve.......
They changed their screw spacing over the years as needed to accommodate design changes in magazines and feeding "system". During the time of change, there was some overlap as older parts supplies were exhausted. For at least a few years, now, all newly manufactured short actions have been "center feed" which has the 4.41" screw spacing
Thanks for helping clear all this up for me guys, so the short action stocks with 4.250 screw spacing won't work for the 4.410 spaced actions?
Steve........
Nope.
Here's more info on the timeline for the actions and screw spacing:

And I thought this would be easy. I plan on making it a 6.5 Creedmoor.
