Yes and no. Who "really" needs a season to do a barrel swap? If you want to change calibers, just do it!! There's a BUNCH of folks that have a supply of different barrels. It just takes the urge or desire. One rifle, different calibers. See an interesting caliber you think you might like to try? Pick up a pre chambered barrel and bolt head if needed and go for it.
I go from 17 VHA to 20 VT to 20 VT "short" Wildcat to 20 TCM Wildcat to .221 Fireball to .223 to 22 BR to 6 BR to 6.8 SPC to 6.8 BR Wildcat and a few in between.
Oz never gave nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't already have.

The 12fv is only avail in limited # of cartridge choices. Not to mention one may want a higher quality aftermarket barrel

Along those lines I had a switch barrel 223/6.5 CM setup based on a 12fv action and bought another 12fv when on sale, just to save the time of doing barrel swaps

Correct. first you sell the current barrel. then buy the barrel in the cal that you want.

From what i have seen in the classifieds by the time you sell all the unwanted parts you get the action for about $50. I even seen someone bought a 12fv action for 250.

Look at all the ammo a person would save from siting in after swaps.
