What is the LOP in the synthetic version ?

I need a LOP of 12.5”. Any idea if it can be shortened with enough left to tap (screws) and attach the recoil pad ?
If you need to shorted it up I would recommend going with the blued/wood stocked Model 11/111 LWH. The buttstock on the synthetic is hollow with the buttpad screw bosses molded in. You shorten it up you'll be cutting off those bosses and have no way to affix your pad without getting creative and/or adding weight.

I was affraid of that. I like the look of stainless. What other models are in SS (besides Axis) that would fit in a youth stock ?
Savage needs to come out with more compact models in SS.
Best bet would probably be to buy the 16/116 LWH or the 16/116 Trophy Hunter XP and then contact Savage to purchase a compact stock for it. Both models use the Axis-style magazines, but Savage only offers the blued Trophy Hunter in a compact model.

I have a savage model 11 in 6.5 creedmoor which I had the stock shorten to 12.5 and a Simms recoil pad put on cost me $85.00 total so it can be done without a problem by a good gunsmith. Last time I checked with savage about buying a youth model stock I think with shipping it was $120.00 that was 2 years ago so it might be a little more now
Isn’t that close to the LOP of the lady hunter? Might look at one of those.

The bosses on the synthetic stock once cut can be rebuilt with a little creativity using masking tape to form small pockets at the top and bottom, JB weld epoxy to reform the bosses and coating the screws in a thin film of release agent such as shoe polish so they can be removed after the epoxy sets up. Of course because of the taper of any stock wood or synthetic that's cut down, the butt pad is going to have to be reshaped if you want a proper fit. I prefer a belt sander for this task though I have done it with a file and sandpaper.
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
You can also glue in a couple pieces of wood shaped to fit the corners to sink screws into, or a single piece of wood shaped to insert into the shortened stock. Only need about 5/8 in thick piece to sink the screws into. Only a few ounces of weight. Construction adhesive is like forever.
