    Savage 23 a sporter

Hi all new to the forum great information here. I recently purchased a 23a sporter in fairly good condition. I believe it was made mid 1930s. I'm wondering if you think it would be a good idea to shoot Blazer 40 grain bullets. I believe they are considered hi velocity so has me a little worried. Thanks for all the good info on this forum.

If your worried about it I would go buy some sub sonic ammo and be done with it but I don't think HV ammo will hurt a model 23, I think it was earlier rifles than that that had problems.

I've found that a lot of the older .22's perform better with standard velocity ammo. I have an old Mossberg 151M semi-auto that won't even feed Blazer bulk ammo, but it loves CCI SV's, and shoots lights out!
