    Yesterday's hunt

Went hiking with a rifle yesterday. When I got down to my "spot" all I saw were does, about a dozen them walking in a row. I then spotted off to the side a single animal. I figured it to be a buck to I did a stalk and got to within 150 yds. I turned out to be another doe. I watched her for a while and decided I just wasn't in the mood to shoot a doe. I hiked back up to car and drove up the road a ways. I saw some goats on the hillside and decided to take one of the billies. I estimated the range 300 yds and held a little over the back and pulled the trigger. The goat dropped. I hiked to the goat and found I overestimated the range. The shot broke the back of the goat. If I had held on top of the back, it would have been perfect - right through the lungs.

I have an old 110 in 30-06 AI. I do not consider myself a very good shot, however, the more I shoot this rifle, the more confident I get. My shot on the goat, although it was high, laterally was right on the money. What a great old rifle!

Good shot no doubt; ya need a range finder just in case and zero for 300 yds.
