I have a tactical bolt to put on. How do I get the old bolt off? Thanks.

Sounds weird ... but it works. Mine came loose from palm pressure ... placed it on a table, placed my palm on it with all my weight on the bolt, turned the allen key and with a loud 'crack' it came loose.Originally Posted by EFBell

If you have one of the old style ones with a slotted screw, it can be a genuine PITA to get the screw off or get it re-tightened enough.
Much easier way was using my chordless hammer/drill in the hammer setting with regular 1/4" hex bit. Just inserted the hex bit in bolt, held it in my hand and hit the trigger in reverse setting. Came off right now with no hassle. Use a car tie rod slotted socket for the slotted head screw type. Yeah I'm old and know what they were used for originally. May have trouble finding one now days unless your mechanic friend has older tools.
Thanks tons. I got it. It worked.
