    Floating rear tang

I've been trying to work up a load for my 223 with 75 gr Amax's. Anyway I read on here the your rear tang should be floated when bedding the rifle. So I decided to remove some material from the stock. I've only shot a couple of groups with it sense then, but it seems to shoot worse now. Does that just mean I need to start over with working up the load? Or just try it again?

    Any thoughts?

The area that needs to be bedded is from the recoil lug to the rear action screw. The only person I would let bed the rear tang of a Savage action would be Chad Dixon. If you've seen his bedding you'd know why.

I would just shoot some more before you do anything more drastic.

But, will going from not floated to floated make you need to re-work up a load? I wondering if my lose in accuracy is really that the gun is less accurate. Or that I've just effected the harmoncis of everything and it no long likes this load.

I guess I'll just start over and see what happens, worst case I'll bed the rear tang and then start over again. Sooner or later I'm bound to find something that works.
