I have a 7mm08 mod 11. Scoped weights 7.25 lbs and has a sharp kick to it. I find its recoil no different than from a 308win except a bit more snappy.

I find that different powders have an impact on this. Lighter guns especially. I like 41 grains of R15 with a 140 SGK in my 7 lb rig. 4064 and Varget feel different. When I go to a 150 or heavier I us Reloder 17 and it doesn't kick at all compared to a 165 gr in 308 in an 8lb rifle.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

My vote is 7mm-08. Though I'm partial to it. I have one for my TC Encore, and love it. Worked great during a caribou trip a few years back. Longest shot was 180 yards and dropped the caribou in its tracks. Recently I was going to rechamber a 308 to a 6.5cm but figured it was to closely related to the 7mm-08. So I went down to the 223 wylde insted. Cant say i have shot a deer with the 7mm-08, but would expect it to do a good job.

Thanks for the tip RH ! I might try working up a load with RL-15 sometime and see how it goes. This being a hunting rifle it's not a priority to mess around with.
