Just seen a 223 barrel with 8 twisy marked VLD...Friend of mine got it.Does that mean it is made special for VLD bullets..

Yes it is probably throated longer then standard

And I would get a regular barrel. As you eat the throat out you can extend the round.

With a VLD setup once its eaten out that's the end, the rifling can be fine, but it looses accuracy.

You'd have to do a whole lot of shooting to shoot the throat out of a 223,not exactly a big worry to most shooters.
