Welcome aboard
I grew up on a farm in South Dakota where I had access to many acres of land that I could shoot on whenever I wanted. I hunted deer with lever action rifles and took a liking to the lever actions. I have since moved to Arizona and have since only shot rifles at paper at designated shooting ranges. A major change for the worse in my mind. I have since started reloading and have found that when shooting off a bench and saving my brass that a bolt action rifle fits the bill a little better.
I enjoy shooting anything be it single shot or semi-auto or manually cycled feed. I have enjoyed shooting my Savage 10MLII muzzleloader as well as my Savage Rascal and the first rifle I bought my son, a bolt action Savage in 22LR. I am currently waiting on a model 12FV in 223 to arrive. Searching for info on it led me to this board and I figured I would say hi before I start asking questions. I have done extensive searching already and have found this board quite informative, but it appears that I must have some really stupid questions to ask as I have not found them asked before. In reality, I am a little anxious and may ask a few questions that I could figure out on my own in time.
Other things I must just accept as they are and not bother to ask why no matter how much I want to. Case in point....I loved the Savage Indian Head logo that I interpreted as showing great respect to their people for instance. It was an easily recognizable, iconic logo for Savage brand recognition. I must admit that it has been awhile since I bought a brand new rifle ( I am a sucker for the older stuff) and I did not realize that Savage had changed their logo. Had the Savage name not have been written I would not have realized that the 12FV that I have on order in the ad was a Savage. Showing how slow I am, I bought the Rascal earlier this year the same way and paid no attention that the logo had already been changed at that time. I am merely mentioning this to show that I do not always see the obvious, with no intent on creating controversy.
I am looking forward to learning a lot here. Thanks to all for the knowledge you are sharing. As you can likely deduct from my last paragraph, I may have little to share myself. I am taking it slow..
