Does anyone know whom would know?
I have a 35 whelen barrel that is on what was a 30-06. I was wondering what beside the bolt face needs to be changed to rebore it to a 35 sta.
Is there anumber after market magazine that is detachable that would work with it.
It is a center feed with a Boyd stock.
I also have parts from another savage to make it a center feed " actual metal bottom metal" from what was a 7mm rem mag.
Would what is needed to do this apply to the 6.5 stw , 7 stw and 8mm rem mag?
Does anyone know whom would know?
I'm not even sure what a 35 STA is? Sorry if I'm ignorant, but I'm assuming it's a wildcat of some sorts built on another parent cartridge but is similar to the 35 Whelen?

I just did a bunch of digging while researching a STW build. You can build it, by changing to a magnum bolt head. Due to the length of the 8mm Remington Mag parent case, you won't easily find a magazine that will allow you to get the full potential out of the new chambering. Savage did manufacture some longer length magazines, but they're tough to find. COAL for the Alaskan is 3.600". You might get 3.400" out of your 7mag box. Stuffing the short, fat .35 bullets into the case an additional .2" will reduce your powder capacity somewhat, but it should still be able to take any animal on the planet with the right bullet and proper shot placement.
