First post back after a huge absence, talk triggers.

I did a bit of looking around and came up with zilch. Is there no true benchrest grade trigger for the old Savages out yet? Probably won't ever be if there isn't now. Looking for something that will adjust properly well down into the ounces level of pull.

Rifle Basix SAV2 is listed as going down to 4oz. How much lighter do you need?

Unfortunately Fred is not able to supply enough triggers for the demand. If I'm not mistaken his benchrest triggers are not made anymore. I prefer the SSS triggers over the SavII but unlike others I do not have a complaint. Like Jim said, 4 oz's gets most where they want to be.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

Welcome back to the land of the barrel nuts
Banning a gun will not solve what is a mental health crisis inflamed by incendiary rhetoric on social and television media. The first amendment in this case is less precious and more likely the causal factor than the second amendment.

    Talking

Can you really SAFELY get the Rifle Basic 2 down to 4 oz. I have heard conflicting stories.

IMHO, the way the sear attaches to the action/trigger group, it would be impossible to get the pull under 4-5 oz. Never saw one of
Fred's BR triggers, but I'll bet he changes the stock sear. He did require a T&T along with the installation. As I recall, with his BR trigger there is no way to increase the pull.

Virgil King, "Houston Warehouse" had triggers at 1/4 oz. I think I need one

IMO, you won't get the SAV-2 to 4 ounces SAFELY... If you do, you are a trigger tune'n sum beach... I've got mine to 8-12 ounces for use in F class shooting, but I wouldn't dare hunt with one set that low...

Cowtownup, My feelings exactly! I have a 3 screw that is near 1 lb, I would never hunt with it or trust the safety. It is strictly a one man bench rifle. However I can increase the pull and sear engagement and make it into a hunting rig.

I had hoped somebody out there had an SSS BR trigger installed by Fred and could tell us about them. AND, maybe somebody would tell us how to get the Savage Basic 2 down to a safe 4 oz? OR even 8 oz.

IMHO, triggers are the first thing you have to do in the quest for accurate rifles.

Good grief I would hope you would not hunt with a 4 oz trigger.

I never had a hunting shot that the trigger played any part in good or bad. Rugger trigger was awful for target but fine for hunting.
Still got the desired 1.5 inches even at targets.

Still waiting for info on SSS BR trigger and getting the Savage Basic down to 4-8 ozs. Not talking about hunting rifles.
