OK I was originally going to try that powder but I went with h414 because I I've heard that it was close to h4350. I plan on picking up some when I try out the 105 Barnes match burners. I'll try the 87gr vmaxes with that powder at the same time.

The axis HB in 243 is a great rifle. I added a boyds thumbhole varmint stock to mine. If you want a nice long range round, try 95gr SMKs over H1000. In mine, 48gr get me half moa groups @ 3080 fps.

The below image was taken from a load development target (100 yards). The center and top left are both 5 shot groups with 48grs. The top right had 48.2. The measurements are edge to edge, so if you subtract .243 both of those 48gr groups are under half moa.

Here's a short video of my daughter sending a few rounds down:

Just an update was able to get some more seat time with the rifle it's becoming one of my favorites. I did some more work on the trigger and was able to get it a little more comfortable. I stoped by the local cabelas and picked up some of the 105 Barnes match burners. Going to try them first with the h414 and see how they do. I'm looking foward to perfecting my load soon so I can start stretching it out. I was able to find a spot on my family farm to shoot 500 year round.

If those 105 Berbers don't work give the 103 edl x a try. All my savages love the 105 amax but did not shoot 105 Berger hybrid very well. Can no longer get the 105 amax but they have replaced them with the 103 eld x.

Got the 105s loaded up sure do change the look of the 243. Loaded up 32rds, going to do a compare and contrast against two different brass brands. Hopefully get to shoot them soon.

Good luck with anything over 80gr....My .243 HB barrel did not like them!
It seemed to like the 58 V-MAX Hornady and 80gr Winchesters.
Anything heavier it seemed to not like.

Also go with the Rifle Basix trigger.... I love mine!

    Good looking build!
Welcome to my home.....FYI..... That locked door you kicked down was for your protection.... not mine!!

Thanks so far I've Been getting consistent 3/4 to 1 moa groups out of the 87gr vmax over some h414. I was able to pick up a hundred of the match burners for 19.99 so I figured heck why not give him a try.

Did you get to try those 105gr Barnes? Interested in how they shot. I'm running low on the 105gr amax and can't find anymore. Hopefully I can find some other 105's that will work.

Was planing to shoot them this weekend but I got rained out. They don't make the amax' s anymore or I would try them. The Barnes are just a fraction shorter then the amax so in theory they should shoot just as good if not better.

i had a 243 heavy barrel. it shot ok with 105 amax . I t needed to go hot to help stabilise it . what i found was it liked the 95 tipped matchking the bc is like 512 or something like that . but since it was 95 grain compared to 105 grain it stabilised better and ran faster giving it the edge over 105 bullets long range with almost the same or better B C without really hot rodding load to boost stability. also if 105 has marginal stability it means it looses bc anyway negating the whole reason for longer heavier bullets. this will also help barrel life with less pressure and help throat life.

I was running the 105 amax @ 2980 with a just under max load of hybrid 100v out of 24 inch barrel. I had 5.2 mil of hold at 800 yds. They were shooting great but I'm running out of them. Only have a couple hundred left.

Another update: unfortunately after I get a chance to shoot the 105 match burners this build thread will be finished. I've just procured a 12fv in 308 and will be proceeding to do a build thread and load development on that rifle. Being on a budget this rifle will be gotten rid of to fund the new 12fv build.

Plans have changed I've decided to keep the axis. Installed another scope on it and in the end will be testing the 105 match burners after all. If I have some time during this week I will try them on my lunch break.

Let us know how the 105 match work. I ended up finding a guy that had 1600 of the 105 amax so I'm good on them for awhile.

Did you ever try the hornady 105 hpbt in the place of the amax's the show them as being very similar just a slightly different bc due to the tip on the amax. Plus they are pretty reasonable on price.

No really the only ones I've tried were the amax, 105 Berger hybrid match and Sierra 100gr game kings. It shoot the amax and game king very well but didn't like the Bergers. If I have to go a different direction I'll probably try the 103 edl-x.

Hybrid 100V is my go to powder for my .243 Win - The Sierra Gamekings 100gr gave me 1 hole groups at 100yds at 2950fps.
I tried other powders, but Hybrid 100V gave me the best results and was clean burning at just under hodgdon's max load listing as well.

I like the Hybrid 100v, it meters great out of my chargemaster. I loaded a 100 rds yesterday and 1 over throw. I get great speed out of. It is a little temp sensitive but the loads I have are under max just back off a .1 or .2 in the summer when it get around 90-95.

Just got done at the range and any one need about 60, 105 match burners just kidding. But in all seriousness they shot about a 10-inch group. I guess my heavy barrel axis doesn't like the 105s. After shooting 3 groups of 4 shots and struggling to stay on an 8 by 11 sheet of paper. I gave up. The rounds were not keyholing or anything like that two shots would shoot together then the point of impact would move 4 to 6 in. After checking my scope mounts and all were tight I shot some more 87gr vmax which I will post some of the pictures of the group's later.

Here are the group's from today the big target is a quick 3 shot group as I was getting the scope zeroed. The other two groups are from doing some load work up. On a side note the barrel was cleaned prior to this outing.

That's a bummer on the 105's. From what I have read on here it's 50\50 on the 105 amax. The 87 will get it done

Was able to get out to the farm today and do some shooting at 350 not my best showing but it's only my second time past 100. Here is the plate I had no spotter so took a second then I was on target.
