    Rechambering a 22-250 to 220 swift

Can it be done? I have always wanted a swift. I just don't have the funds to flat out buy one after all the money spent on the deer lease prep this year. I've got a model 11 in 22-250. Have other 22-250s and like new toys. I have the tools to do it. Any input is appreciated. Not to mention I have a back up 22-250 barrel in case this one doesn't turn out well. Thanks guys.

Sure you can swap the barrel off of your 22-250 and screw on and headspace a 220 swift barrel. If you're using a short action, you won't be able to use the magazine.
They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

I was thinking along the lines of reaming out the 22-250 so i don't have to purchase a new barrel either. I knewthemamagazine would be an issue and am currently rectifying that.

I think a better idea is to ream the 22-250 out to Ackley Improved.
That will give you as much power and it will give you a straight case,
which has advantages, like less brass flow, handles pressure better,
puts less load on the bolt.

I think the 220 is slimmer, so I don't see how you could ream the
22-250 case to be the smaller diameter of the swift.

    220 base diameter= .445 in
    22-250 base diameter =
    .469

Ditto on the 22-250 ai. Gets the same velocity as swift, but gets the benefits mentioned above.
    Ackley was right all along

The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

i'll echo the calls of the 22-250ai or if you want hang out with the cool kids there's the 22x47 lapua

barrel twist and throating can really change the cartridges capabilities and is almost as important if not more than the cartridge it's self. all 3 are very comparable as far as speed capabilities/case capacities. just pick your poison and roll with it.
