I have a new Model 25 in 22 Hornet and noticed after firing a few rounds of Hornady 35gr. V-MAX loads that the primers are not flush after firing. I tried a few more rounds of a brand called PPU and the same thing. They are not backed out very far. Most people would not even notice but I am a reloader and I check things like this just routinely. I bought the factory loads to get the brass to reload my own. I have no precise way of measuring the amount of the primer sticking up but I would say somewhere between .002 and .004. I have tried to contact Savage in e-mails and phone to talk to a gunsmith about it and all I have gotten is a e-mail saying I can't talk to a gunsmith. I have other Savage centerfire rifles but they all headspace on the shoulder. The Hornet headspaces on the rim so this might not be a big deal. What do you guys think? Is it something to be concerned about?
