Hey everyone, Hail from South Dakota. We have used Savage rifles for a long time. Currently have a Stevens 200 in.223, Stevens 200 in.308, and a Savage 111 in .300WM. Am looking to replace the barrel on the .308, and that search led me here. Hope to find a nice .243 for deer hunting. No problem with the .308, but the recoil is more than I like, and the accuracy has never been what I have come to expect.
Figured I would put a little work into the .308 before I gave up on it. My tang makes contact, bedding the recoil lug would be simple enough, and we have smoothed out the triggers on other rifles. Maybe that would help. If anyone has other things we should try I am all ears.
Glad to be here and hope to learn as much as possible. sdrookie
