Welcome aboard ,Outstanding shooting
Hello all, I just picked up a new model 10 today at my lgs. Was looking for a good target/hunting rifle and this fit the bill.
It's topped with a vortex diamondback scope. First time out with it at the range today was very nice. Shoots great. I was able to pull off some pretty good groups at 100 yards for my first time with the rifle. It's a .308.

Welcome to brothers of the barrel nut, nice group.
Ackley was right all along
So I have a question that I can't really find a definite answer to.
The box is labeled "model 10 fcp". From what I gather, this is the older model, since it has the one piece, smaller bolt handle and no threaded barrel.
So is the correct model for this still the model 10 fcp, or do they go by a different name? If more pics help I can certainly get some.
Call Savage Custoemr Serivce Monday. GIve them the s/n. they can telly uo what the model designation was for that s/n. What they might not be able to tell you is what all the original parts were for it. Really, it does not matter what it's called. It is what it is. The reason I say that is many Savage owners change parts, customizing it to their wants/needs. Even Savage will make and sell guns that are labeled a certain model type but have different style barrels and handles, etc.
Welcome to the site!
IIRC those with the desert digital camo pattern were a distributor exclusive, in which case the FCP designation is probably correct even though it doesn't match the cataloged 10 FCP as the distributor can basically ask that it be called whatever they want.
There was also a Model 10 PC (precision carbine) that was offered several years ago but the stock had a digital pattern with colors more of an urban (grey) pattern. Here's a link to the review we did on the 10 PC back in the day.
