Boyd's savage axis recoil lug removal tips?

Ok I have an axis build that I'm using a Boyd's atone stock. I had the action timed and trued by sss and had them also machine for a standard lug does anyone have any tips for removing the standard recoil lug out of the new Boyd's stock. Kind of disappointed when they told me the stock couldn't be made without the recoil lug they would not leave it out don't get why they couldn't but hopefully I can get it out without any damage done to the stock.

MrFurious just dealt with this I believe. The Recoil lug is both snug fit and glued in. He had to remove material in front of it in order to get it out.
