What factory ammo works best for you in your Savage 110 in .308?

There are a lot brands and different bullet types from various manufacturers out there, it would cost a fortune)(at least in sweden) to try them all to find the best performance. So I ask for some direction on what to try first. I'm talking about expanding bullets for hunting big game.

I have tried Norma oryx 180gr and lapua mega 185 grain. The mega shots better than oryx.

Hornady, Winchester, others? What cartridge and bullet weigh works best for you guys?

If it doesn't shoot FGMM 175grs I would question the barrel. But honestly, Prime, Black Hills, Atomic, and other well known Match ammo brands as well. Not sure what all you have available in your neck of the woods though.

thanks for the suggestions! but i was thinking more of soft point lead ammo like the lapua mega and norma oryx already mentioned. it would be cool to try a boat tail hunting bullet.

I have you tried starting cheap? I've found that most 308s will shoot some weight of Rem Corelokts or Winchester PP. I have a Marlin bolt action that just love Rem Corelokt 150s.

Sorry, i missed the big game hunting part... what do you consider "Big Game"... Nosler Accubonds and partitions are pretty solid bullets...

For Moose I like Federal Fusion 180gr. Always very accurate in every rifle I tried. Good for 500 meters on moose.

For Deer out to 500 meters I like the Federal Premium 165gr Gameking. Also Superbly accurate. Or the 165gr Fusion is great on deer out to 500m.

For small deer (weighing less than 50kg) The Federal fusion 150gr will work best.

Bottom line... Federal Premium and Federal Fusion lines of ammo have always been very accurate no matter the rifle.
