Is it possible to build a .460 S&W on a short action?

Most of the people who've held my .460 S&W revolver seem to prefer something with a stock.
I don't know why - I really don't find it to be abusive (except for the muzzle flash ).
The base is the same as a .45 Colt, I've never seen one in a bolt gun. Would make a heck of a lever-action carbine, though.

You don't know what you don't know.
Except that 460 would turn most leverguns into a single shot . It's rated at something like 65,000 psi?
if I was going to do it I would see if I could trim the rim back to .473 and if you could it would feed a lot better but you could only use handloads.
They make a 460 S&W barrel (1:16 twist) for the Thompson Contender Encore (along with 454 Casull, 480 Ruger, and 500 S&W).

Max rated is 61,931 psi for the 460 S&W, 65,000 psi for the 454 Casull, 47,482 psi for the 480 Ruger and 61,931 psi for the 500 S&W.
The rimmed cartridges won't work in a Savage. Now the 460 (and 45 Colt) have a very small rim so you MIGHT get it to work with some mods.
The 458x2" American with a magnum bolt head would probably be the easiest way to go to get something similar though.
