Savage 40 (or greater) MOA scope rail.

Anyone know who makes a really good 40 MOA or greater heavy duty scope rail for a Savage round back, long action with the 8-40 mounting screws?

If you can't find the 40 MOA rail, take a look at the Barrett ExRings. Front ring has a pivot and rear ring allows you to select either 15 MOA or 40 MOA with precision. On a 20 MOA rail that would allow 35 MOA or 60 MOA. For a rail I'd check out Ken Farrel. As rails go, they really don't get much more durable or precise. I had one of his rails on a Rem .308 with the adjustable recoil lug. Solid as they get.

As with anything "Barrett", there is a price to pay. With the added flexibility of dual angles that gives one a lot of flexibility that you'd have to have two rails if using other products.

I believe EGW will do custom rails if you contact them.

When I needed another 20 MOA on one of my rifles, I made a .025 shim for the rear and bedded both front and rear. It was cheap and quite simple to do.

and if you bed it it will sit very stable.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

Have you considered rings? Burris makes XTR signature rings that go to 40 MOA using inserts. I have them on my savage 338 FCP. Working good so far for me. I have a 34mm scope. The Burris only comes in 1 inch or 1.5 inch height. Measured wrong and ordered the 1.5 inch. Had to order the 1 inch and trying to sell the other.
