    New B 22 FVSR

Well I finally got the b 22 fvsr in to go with the b 17 fvsr I got a couple months back. Once I got it home we disassembled it to clean it,adjust the trigger and remove the insert from the stock to float the barrel.
Now today we loaded up all the 22s and the b 17 and headed to the range. Set them up at the 50 and sighted in the b 22. Then we did 5, 5 shot groups on the green monster. To say I am happy with it would be a understatement. I have got a thousand rounds or better through the other 22s and the b 22 fv sr shot right with them. The weather was perfect for shooting at the 50. When we moved back to the 100 the wind really pick up and was swirling around. The groups suffered but I did manage to get 2 groups right at 1 inch.
I am looking forward to the aftermarket to catch up to these new b models. The Tupperware stock is very comfortable to shoot with. The new grip is a lot better than the mark ii. Still flimsy and doesn't sit on a rest. Here are some photos of the stock and the groups. I'm not the most accomplished marksman but I think you can see this new rifle will shoot.

You do realize Tupperware may be expensive, but has a reputation as a (very) good product? Are you suggesting in any way, shape, or form, the Mattel stock on the B Savage is actually quite good?? Or maybe you just meant the Tupperware stock is very pliable just like Tupperware...

Lol, it is actually not that hateful for a factory stock. I like the fit and it is a comfortable stock to shoot. A little flimsy and pliable for bench work but would probably be all right for beating around the bush.

Have to agree, the synthetic stock on the new B-Series rifles is much, much better than what we were used with the old synthetic stocks (rimfire and centerfire). Not only is it less flimsy, it's also adult size and more ergonomic. As I said in the review I posted the other week, Savage did good with this one. Is it perfect with no room for improvement? No, but it's a far cry better than what they had before.

Ok.....I'm sorry.....but I consider it my national duty, (and pastime) to correct certain things......"we're" is the contraction form of "we are", as in we're going to the gun shop. .....ok I tried to insert a smiley but it didn't work.....

    OP,

Did you do any experimenting regarding removal of that stock insert? Any before and after groups? Just curious as I recently bought one myself (B22 FV-SR) and working through initial groups and ammo. I like the ergonomics, trigger, stock feel, but have not fell in love with my groups yet. I had a couple (just a couple) 3/4" groups at 50 but today couldn't get any 100 yard groups worth bragging about.

My stock insert make firm contact on he barrel, more one side than the other. I was considering sanding it down or just removing it. I guess removing it is my next step and am hoping to see a big difference. That said, it has a heavy profile barrel and not sure a little stock contact should effect it so much. I don't know.

Also curious your ammo preferences. Mine likes SK Std Plus, CCI SV and doing pretty good on Blazer too. I keep getting some fliers with almost every group and assume that is me.
