Laminate/Hardwood options​

So in looking for an alternative to a chassis, I was looking for an alternative and came across this site.... http://rifle-stocks.com/silhouette.htm (RICHARDS MICROFIT STOCKS, INC). In researching the site, I found that it's a crapshoot with regards to time, and quality. So are there other options for a similar stock design? I'm looking at converting the hidden mag to a external mag (via a conversion kit from Pacific tool and guage (http://pacifictoolandgauge.com/savag...e-pattern.html). I did find this company, which has fantastic work, however they are located in Europe (http://www.garycanesgunstocks.com/th...le-stocks.html). Any suggestions. I know Boyds is popular but did not see the hand grip with the finger indents and thumbhole. All be it, it's likely cheaper to do with a chassis system in the end. I'm also not apposed to having to do some woodworking if needed. Sorry for the long post.

IMHO, Richard's Micro-Fit is one of the better stock makers out there as far as price, style selections and delivery time. Couple on months wait. As good or better than most. Custom made stock have been known to take up to a year to get and cost BIG BUCKS!! Sure would be a pisser to have that long of a wait, spend BIG $$ and not be happy with the finished product.
If you know ahead of time about the wait and the fact that you'll end having to do some wood work to get the fit and finish needed, you're way ahead of the game.
I've lost count but over the years, I've had probably a dozen or so stocks from Richard's Micro-Fit. Loved every one of them. Matter of fact, I look forward to getting the stock so I can see what it will take to make it MINE! Some have come looking like they was cut with a dull chain saw and others, not too bad. Mine are all thumb hole BR style stocks and HEAVY. Think fence post!! All are for bench shooting and do the job very well.
The only way to find out if you like their stocks is to order one, sit back and wait for it to show up. And the next time someone asks opinions about Richard's Micro-Fit stocks, you can jump in there and answer from first hand experience. Got my eye on one of their "pistol grip" stocks. My plan? Cut the back end off and make it f an SP stock. (Specialty Pistol) Few and far between so there's a real need for that design.

My Boyds TH style stocks don't need to be bedded, the fit is that good.

I got an EABCO with the pillars that did need it badly (brother did it and he is good and it shoot fine now)

I would take less spectacular over iffy finish issues any day.

Boyds is coming out with more offerings all the time.

Like Alice's restaurant, you can get anything you want at Richards Micro Fit however, you'll be in for a long wait for it to arrive and weeks, if not months of work to get it to fit YOU perfectly. Especially if you've never "made" a stock before. I put that in quotes because it does come nicely milled out for your action.

But I can tell you this; the last two times at the range shooting my thumbhole benchrest from Richards, I have been stopped and asked by an onlooker if I would permit my gun to be photographed. It's a tiger wood, birch and walnut laminate with a glossy finish, and I never go to the range without drawing some comments. I'll post a pic when I can find my cheat sheet on how to post.

For a drop-in, ready to shoot, pillared laminate I went with Eabco http://www.eabco.net/Savage-Thumbhol...k_p_14233.html for my son's 12FV in 223. I bedded it with Devcon 10110 anyway, but it shoots tiny groups at 100 yds, especially with my son behind the trigger with his young eyes.
