Fun project. Been working on my old gun too...
Savage 110 flat-back, EGW Pic-rail, NSS recoil lug and barrel nut.
This is how she started out before I took her down...

Super cool. I'm doing a 6.5 Creed right now. Exciting!
I got my McMillan HTG stock yesterday and it's awesome! I haven't had the cash for a new barrel yet, so I'm going to drop in my old 30-06 barrel and see how it performs for hunting season in 3 weeks. For now, the barrel is just on hand-tight. As pictured, the rifle is just under 10 pounds. Still lighter than hunting with my M25 from last year at 12.5 pounds.
The barrel channel is cleared for a bull barrel already. I will bed it this weekend. The good part is that any barrel I use from this point on will not require me to re-bed the action.

Well, it's finally done! I received my Benchmark 22" 5R barrel today. I came home over lunch and installed it, lickety-split! There may be minor rubbing on the right side, so I'll have to re-bed it soon with the new barrel.
The barrel is threaded with a 1:11" twist rate.
Quite a transformation! Now I just need a bipod and some range time!

That is a nice stock, good luck with the rest of the project !!!
Well if Tony is here I know it's a good forum. Nice rifle man

There's not much more fun with a rifle than to re-stock and rebarrel your own, then go hunt with it! That is really gorgeous. I like the old style Savage trigger, too, since it has a detent to prevent the pull weight from changing. Very nice.
