    243win striker giving me fits

I recently got a 1st generation striker and have been getting rotten accuracy.
We are talking 2 and 3 inch groups at 50 yards.
So i have Been methodically going down the list of culprits.
Now i am waiting for my bedding compound to dry .
I have already made sure there is no contact between barrel and stock.
I have also built a removable bench rest forearm for this one out of 3 1/2 inch channel steel.
If I have to I will save up for a tight chambered bull barrel

The one I had started as a .243 but I didn't care for the recoil so I traded for a .22-250 barrel. As a .243 it never shot very well, but I just had a 4x scope and due to the recoil it didn't stay a .243 very long. After swapping the barrel (factory 22-250 Striker barrel) and putting on a Burris 3-12x Handgun scope it would regularly shoot 1/2 to 3/4" groups at 100 yards with handloads off a bipod with a sandbag under the grip.

What bullets are you trying in your 243?

I like the 243 in a pistol. Let us know what makes your striker shoot.

I've shot that bullet with H414 in a Encore with no brake. Sub 1"grps.

Let us know what you find. You will like your 243 Striker once you get it shooting and a brake will allow you to run a rifle scope on it.

I give up on this bbl.
It would be fine for hunting but nowhere near accurate enough for me.
Going to replace it as soon as possible

I had used Savage 243 varmint barrel cut down to 17" and braked on a striker. It was very accurate shooting 1/2" or less consistently. The brake really allowed me to shoot the best. It was a Ross howitzer type brake.

Life is to short to fiddle around with a barrel that won't shoot. Any idea what you are going to get for a barrel?

Get rid of the 243. rebuild in 6BR or Dasher. All of your issues will go away!

    Got my $20 savage wrench
I have the round bottom nut but this square tooth is shallow enough to work for both.
It is an apache gun works wrench.
    Very solid and heavy.
I got the barrel today too!
After work I am going to do my first swap

Of course I have every intention of doing just that.
I may be new to this forum.
But I am not new to load development.

Same for my gen 1. Best trigger I've had on a Striker. It was .243 and now a .221fb. The .243 factory barrel shot 3/4" at 100yrds with 4X scope and Federal 100gr Powershok. HATED the recoil! Going to sell the heavy .221fb barrel soon and switch to factory .223. Shot mine off bipod.

1st gen savage striker trigger tune for cheap
I had a heavy HEAVY trigger at first.
I polished that roller looking thing that isn't supposed to roll.
Then I saw how crooked the parts rode together so I put 2 tiny split rings as indicated
Put it back together and adjusted the various screws while closing the bolt hard trying to get a slamfire.
Now i have a nice crisp trigger with very little slack.
