    6.5x55 with imr4955

Anyone using this with 140 grainers? I am shooting it with vmax and am drilling nails with 49 grains. Still fine tuning but it is shooting 1/4 moa. Its definitely hot but i didnt seem to find accuracy till that point. Not much info or data out there. I am over max according to hodgdon but their max pressure is on low end. I have noticed the 4955 is touchy. Small changed can drastically affect group size

Did you try contacting Hornady? I've gotten recipe data over the phone from them. They test the powders for their reloading manual and will share the data before the new manual is loaded. They go out if their way when they know you are shooting their bullets.

Havent contacted them. Good idea though. I shot 8 rounds at 650yd tonight with this load. First was a clean cold bore sanity check that i was hitting the 4x8 plywood. Verified that and then shot the other 7. Wound up doing pretty well. Best 3 shots were 2 1/16". Best 4 shots were 3 1/4" and best 5 were 5 1/2". Velocity averaged 2987. St dev was 22 and coefficient of variation was .73%. The fastest round was the cold bore shot at 3026. Slowest was 2961

There is Hornady factory load data on the 6.5 Creedmoor site. Here is the link:

I have quickload which has that powder in there. If you can give me a few details, I can run some number through it and see what we come up with. Just send me a PM and I will tell you what info I need.

You can also try down loads.

5 shots are really the minimum for accuracy. 10 is even better but its hard to hold a full 10 shot string, latter in the day you also get tired.

It should have a good node down between starting and mid.

If it takes that to be accurate then so be it. Barrels go faster the more powder and speed so its always a trade off for accuracy vs trajectory and what you are doing with it.

I go with accuracy and preferably the lowest the best and let the trajectory be worked out with scope settings.
