    .308 178gr ELD Match 1:12 only??

Bought a box to try in my 10 FCP-K, which is 1:10. When I got home I saw the label Twist Rate 1-12"

Anyone know from experience if this is dead nuts or is it (I'm hoping) just a guide?

I think 12 is the minimum recommendation. 10 should be perfectly fine.

You will be fine with the 10 twist. It's faster than the 12 and will stabilize them fine. I have used the 178s in 10, 11 and 12 twists and they all shot fine.

My pet load for my 10T 308 is the 178 ELD-X using varget with 43.9 gr @2720 fps. 1:10 twist. Keep shooting them.

Working with 168 SMK and Hornady Match 168 for now. When I get to the ELD Match I'll be sure to post. Thanks.

You will have no issues. Try loading them .020" off the lands. All my AMAX and ELDs like that seating depth.

Really. I tried loading them 0.020 off the lands and it looked like a shotgun blast. I load mine at 2.810 and can put 3 in a quarter @100 yards. What's our setup Rob01? I may have to try it again.

Can depend on the rifle and load but in a bunch of calibers and weights, including the .308 with the 178s, the .020" worked best but they also shot good at the basic 2.800" as well. They didn't mind a jump. This is from my 3 custom .308s. Loading with Varget.

I think these warnings on heavy bullets are meant to imply that you must have 1:12 or faster twist. Heavier bullets require faster rifling. My 1:10 likes 175's.
