Front Scope caps in the way.

I Mounted a DNZ LOW scope mount on my Savage 12 VLP. The scope mount fits the Nikon Monarch 4-12x42mm BUT I cannot put the scope cap on “Front”. What do you guys do? Grind the bottom of the cap off so it fits? The caps in question came with the scope and are flip-up.
My Monarch is a 42mm objective, I also tried my Nikon Buck master “40mm” and it fits perfectly with the caps on. So do I sell the Monarch4-12x 42mm and keep the Buckmaster 3x9x 40mm?
Max for my shooting is 100 yards.
    Thanks for any ideas.

grind or slit the cap. or go back to a taller mount. Just make sure it does not touch the barrel.
