    Portable Target stand

Does anyone have any plans to make a portable stand. One that you would hang a steel gong from. BTW it needs to be built so that an old man can disassemble it and move it. Thanks Daniel

Here's the back yard way of doing one.... Go to Lowes or Home depot and buy 2 Shepard's hooks, 2 one foot chain lengths, 2 D rings (or equivalent) and a drill bit that cuts a large enough hole for the D ring to fit thru. Put the shepard's hooks up so that each 1 foot chain hangs from each hook, and then hook the chain to the D rings and then the gong. It should have the gong hanging pretty much centered between the two hooks. This will allow it to swing, but not twist (from the wind or from hits). If you are using a big heavy gong, you may have to reinforce the hooks with a fencing stake or rod, but it works and it not too hard to transport of move.

Thanks. That might work. Gumbo mud gets awful hard in the summer, may not be able to get Shepherd hooks in the ground. Anyone got any other ideas??

    Can you weld?

Three pieces of rebar to form a triangle.

Or make saw horse (I'd use rebar instead of wood, but could also use threaded pipe.)

Rick Will, that will work!!! Thanks Daniel

Now I will try to return the favor. Hang the gong with some fire hose. That occasional stray bullet will not wipe out a shooting seession. Most fire stations have hose that they will give you.

I use 3/4 inch PVC pipe. They can be made in any size desired and by not using any adhesive they come apart...I just take off the bottom and lay the two parts in the car. If there is a wind a bag of lead shot or sand on the bottom holds things in place.

Road Rat, that is awesome. WE bought a couple target stands made of narrow gauge steel rods. They didn't work out. I like this, I never thought of making one from PVC. Thanks for sharing.
