$275 to $350 and a 6 month wait
Curious. What's the going rate to chamber, thread both ends, (no contour machining )on a blank from your smith in y our neck of the woods?

About $150.00 to $200.00 and I sometimes I get the work back in less than a week or so. BUT, they go to New York (USPS Priority Mail) and my GUY is a good friend. I never rush him, pay him cash up front and wait to be surprised. Been dealing with him for at least 3 years or more and have NEVER been unhappy with his work. First Class Work every time. He's done a small job in the AM and had it back in the mail that same afternoon.
If he's "gone hunting", it takes longer. If it's cold, like it is now, it will take longer but I'am never in a hurry. Hard to work in a shop when it's 10* to 15* outside and there's two feet + of snow on the ground. And NO, I won't mention his name. It's a secret.
Oz never gave nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't already have.
I had a quote from a respected gunsmith in my are of $250.00 to thread and chamber in .222. I'd expect to add another $75.00 to $100.00 to thread the muzzle. Turnaround time was less than 4 weeks. I'm in the west central section of NC.
Thanks guys
