    Twist rate 25-06 barrel

    I'm buying a 112 BVSS 25-06 barrel 26". I can't find what twists these came in. I'm assuming it's 1-10"

Sweet. What have y'all been able to push 117's out of that barrel at? I'm excited. I've always wanted a 25-06 but most of the savage barrels are 22". This is just a play rifle so I wanted to keep it on the budget side. I'll have $350 in it for the action, barrel, wood stock, recoil pad, and egw scope mount.

Anything from rl17- rl26 and 3200fps is no problem. Go to reloadersnest.com and that should help ya out. Don't be afraid to use those really slow powders, you will be surprised

RL22 is the cats pajamas for the 25-06. I tried a bunch of different powders in mine before trying RL22 with fantastic results.
My favorite .257 bullet is the 110 Accubond and it kills deer like lightning with a lot of shock, surprising wound channel and a good sized exit. The 100 gr ballistic tip is another very good bullet with proven results so don't think you've gotta shoot the heavies. There is a lot to be said for high velocity, flat trajectories and modern bullet designs that make the .257s hit like a larger caliber. Do a little load development, figure out and shoot what the rifle likes. Though a longer barrel may yield a slightly higher velocity, don't count out those 22" 25-06 sporter barrels.
My 111 sporter sure a lot easier to hunt with than my 110FP with the heavy barrel and has piled up some deer over the years.
I built a 111 for my son when he was 10 or11 because of the light recoil and then liked the caliber so much I wound up with a couple for myself. He still hunts with it today, all these years later, as a grown man.
Good luck and I think you'll enjoy it a lot.
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
