Replacing the plastic magazine bottom with metal

I just received a Boyd's stock for my 11 Trophy Hunter and have also received the metal conversion from Savage. My problem is that the plastic bottom on the magazine must be replaced with a metal bottom plate. The plastic base popped of easily, but I'm having difficulty installing the new metal plate on the magazine. What is your secret to get it to snap onto the magazine?
