    New McGowen barrel arrived but.......

....................... the engraving comes on the bolt side of the rifle upside down!! It's just unfortunate that I had a 75% chance of it landing in the good zone and 25% chance of it landing in the bad zone. If it's anywhere on the bottom half (50%) of the barrel it's hidden under the stock. Anywhere on the non-bolt side (25%) and it's acceptable. Nope, dead center of the bolt side!

What if you turn the Barrel around? Will the markings line up then?

Enjoy the barrel. That is a flat shooting whitetail dropping cartridge.

I wasn't complaining about their product. Just ranting about my bad ass luck. I have one of their barrels on my Savage muzzleloader and I couldn't be more pleased. It would be nice if they weren't obligated to engrave them however.

My new Shilen is not labeled in any way on its exterior except at the chamber end; here's a not-good pic, cropped from a far-larger one.

To me that's a better way of doing things with a prefit!

On the bolt side is the correct side. They did good except for the upside-down. Oh sorry, I'm a lefty.
