    Axis 308 10 round mag

It's suggested in the sticky, but I've only seen the modded magpul mags in 223. Anyone done it on a 308?

I did the .223 version for my Axis and ended up with a 14 rd magazine. In theory I don't see why it would not work. But I will say this, you are looking at $60 in parts just to give it a try. And a 10+ rd .308 mag will not be light. And it took me *many* hours of dinking around grinding this and that to get the follower just right. It's a fun project, but it's not the easiest thing in the world and you can easily ruin some parts.

I have to wonder if it's better to just buy a pre-made Synder or Dark Eagle mag when stepping up to the larger rounds...

But hey, give it a shot and let us know!

With the reasonable price and similarity of the 10 fcp-sr 10 round mags, I wonder if retrofitting one of those wouldnt be easier.

I made one with a 308 pmag and made a video on YouTube if you wanna check it out. Just search Savage 20 rd mag on YouTube.

So congrats on giving this a try. Did the pmag actually end up within the steel shell of the stock mag, or is it glued only to the base plate which in turn is glued to the stock mag?

It also looked like the rounds were hanging when you were unloading to re-position them...I found trying to modify the follower to make it not stick took the longest out of making my .223 version.

I JB welded everything together so it's basically a solid mag now and the JB weld will be as tough as the pmag body so I'm not worried about durability. Yes I fumbled a bit but it was my first video so I was behind a camera and that was my first mag, was it 100% perfect, no but it's 90% and I'm very happy I also have a very short video of it functioning in the rifle.

After I made the video on the mag I found model 10 bottom metal not the cheap plastic like on the axis and put it in my 11vt and made a video on that. I was glad to get away from the plastic clips on the axis mags.
