Savage Axis and 110 receiver threads the same?

Recently got a used Axis for cheap, going to use as a beater/plinker/loaner gun. Its a .308 and and I found/bought a used .223 barrel to replace it. First time I owned an Axis and on the E.R. Shaw site I read this:

Edge/Axis Fitting Information - Original Savage "Edge" Rifles were renamed "Axis". Receiver barrel threads on these rifles are sometimes a little too small to fit 10/110 barrel. E. R. Shaw has dimensioned the threads on their 10/110 barrels so that they will fit Savage Edge/Axis receivers. However, you should remember Edge/Axis is otherwise a different receiver than the 10/110 series... It will not fit the same stocks for example.

This is the only time I've seen this, does anyone know of any issues regarding this "sometimes to small" statement?

    thanks, Brian

I read that too, but never had an issue. I even put one of their barrels on an Axis. Never heard of anyone on this forum having the problem either.

The .260 I put on shoots great by the way.
