Looking for some load info for the Hornady .308 178 grn. Eld-x .

I recently was able to find a box of the Hornady 178 gr. ELD-X IN .308 for my model 10 Fcp. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these projectiles specifically at long range. I have begun to load with Varget and IMR 4064. but haven't had time to put any down range. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I shoot the 178 ELD-X exclusively in my 10T 308. Works great. I shoot 43.9 gr of varget getting 2720 fps. It's a bit higher than published data but have zero signs of over pressure. Always work up though as your rifle may not like going that high. Have load data for the 208 ELD-M and currently working up loads for the 200 ELD-X with RL-17.

My cousin found a nice load for his tikka ctr. he is using 42.9gr varget but he's loading his .020 off the lands which is 2.885" seem to remember velocity being well into the 2600's. (20" barrel) that is with his suppressor though so that could boost fps some.

There is a reloading section for questions like this down in the Equipment area, Barrels, Stocks, Optic and Reloading.

Are you running the 200 and 208s in a win mag or .308 win?

Let me know how the velocities play out on those. Are you tuning them for long range or just more knock down?

Loading for long range. I did the 208 last year. 39.6 of varget getting 2381 fps out the barrel. Since I have an abundance of RL-17 from selling my 6.5cm, will try both 200 and 208 with RL-17 and see how it goes. Will post results. Just have to wait for a warm weekend.
