What Do I Have and Where Can I Get Spare Magazines

I'm a newbie when it comes to guns so this may be a bit dumb. I recently purchased a rifle which says both "Springfield 30.06" and "Savage Super Sporter," which confuses me as I thought those were two separate companies. It also has "Hi-Pressure Steel Proof Tested" stamped into the barrel. The serial number is 10769. What is this? Am I safe to fire modern ammunition from it?

Also, I'm trying to buy spare magazines, the one it came with is a four-round.


Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's either a Savage model 40 or a 45. A model 40 won't have checkering and a model 45 will have checkering.

It's chambered in 30-06 Springfield and has nothing to do with the model, they only came in 30-30, 250, 300 and 30-06.

Yes you can shoot anything you want in it, the 30-06 came out long before that model was made.
