Has anyone tried the 69 grain sierra match bullets in this twist?
I heard they should work well out to 3 to 500......Or do you all recommend
something better..Forget the Bergers,i AINT rich.....lol
77gr SMK behind Varget is my go to load for High Power service rifle for 600yd prone for quite a while. With a 1:7 twist should be ideal. Just learn calling wind with 223 bullet weights. Sometimes use 80gr but not to shoot magazine length. Not really much difference.
Try the Hornady 75grn ELD-M. Excellent BC for weight and not overly expensive.
What rifle is it for? Bolt or AR?
I have 3 boxes of 75 grain Amaxes that I would make you a great deal on... I bought them by mistake thinking they would fit in my AR mags...
If you need a mag length bullet then the Hornady 73 ELD-M was built to do just that.

I shoot the 69 SMK and TMK out of my 8 twist 223. The TMK has a very good BC. But for less money the 80 grain A-Max might be worth a try. I have to shoot it out of my 8 twist 22-250 to get good stabilization, but your 7 twist should do the job at 223 velocities.
I've shot the 69 grain SMK over 8208XBR out to 750 yds, but was shooting steel only, not groups for score. Still, worked very well.
Banning a gun will not solve what is a mental health crisis inflamed by incendiary rhetoric on social and television media. The first amendment in this case is less precious and more likely the causal factor than the second amendment.
If you don't mind single feed and you have enough freebore, the 90gr SMK works good in 7" twist barrels and has no problems getting out to 1,000 yards.
The 75 gr ELD-M others recommend is a great choice too.
With the 1-9 twist the best weights are 40-75 it's the most common, what's important is the bullet length ,not the weight. With the 1-7 twist the best weights are 55-87
With the 1-8 twist the best weights are 62-77. If a Hornady 75 Gr BTHP Match is longer than a Sierra 69 Gr Matchking BTHP, and both are shot out of a 1-9 twist barrel the Hornady may not group as tight as the Sierra.

Yes Hornady is replacing it with the 75 ELD-M with will have a better BC but still be an excellent choice like the 75 AMAX.
I've had great results with the 75 Amax in a 7 twist. Definitely wouldn't recommend 69 smk for a bolt rifle that can handle the higher bc bullets.
The 75gr Amax is longer than the 77gr SMK, chief.
Use what makes you happy, we shot 77 SMK's to 1200 for years.
If you believe Hornady didn't have a discontinued list, you'll probably believe their "just the tip" crap too.
Shoot whatever bullet makes you warm and fuzzy. But the lower the BC, the better at reading the wind you need to become.

With the 1 in 7 twist, you might want to look at the Nosler Custom Competition 77 and 80 gr. My gun loves them.
Berger's aren't any more expensive than anything else if you wait until they're on sale. I just got 500 of their 6mm 105 Hybrid's for $147 as they are on clearance to move out excess inventory. That works out to about $0.30 per bullet, or the same price Midway is getting for Hornady 108gr ELD Match bullets right now (which are on sale to).Forget the Bergers,i AINT rich.....lol

He may have meant as long as the bullet you shoot is in the right window of stability for your twist rate, then make the most of it and be happy.
BC is like diamonds, it last forever.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

With all respect, do the math per round on 1000 Berger (say 73 target hpbt) and the SMK 69's. MAYBE two cents IIRC. I just received 1000 of the Berger 73's for $279.
I have a 1:7 Savage F/TR. Mine DOES have a shorter chamber than what I was expecting and will take Berger 75's maximum. No problem with the SMK 69's although the 73's are much more accurate.
You can get 1000 Hornady 75 ELD-Ms now for $192.90 at Midway. Normal price is $21.49 but they are on sale for $19.29 a box.

They shoot very well. Here's a couple groups from my initial testing. Only 4 in Varget group as I had a bad Tula primer.
I agree with taking advantage of the twist. the lightest I'd go would be the 70gr nosler rdf other than that I'd look at the vld offerings from hornady, sierra and berger
