    Savage Stealth 308 barrel length

When did savage quit making a 24 inch barrel for this? was on there web site a few weeks ago. Brother ordered one but came in with a 20 inch barrel. There web site now reflects this.

Didn't know they ever made one.... All the ones I've seen in stores were 20". Checked all the ones for sale over at GunBroker, and don't see any 24" 308's over there. Maybe a typo on their site, or you were looking at the 6.5's???

Brother has a ad from gander mountain showing 24 inch barrel option. Could have sworn I saw a 24 inch barrel option on savage web site a few weeks ago. Buy yeah, your right, everyone online shows 20 inch. They placed the order for the 24 inch. Went to get it today and it was the 20 inch. Was bummed. He wants to shoot 1000 yards and 24 inch is were he wants. Has no interests in 6.5. Told him to save a few bucks and get the new 10T-SR with the threaded barrel. I love my 10T. Just wish it had threaded barrel.

I'm guessing there was probably a typo on Savage's part, and others based their ads on what they thought they would be getting....

Same here... I recently rebuilt my old 308 to a 7mm-08 chassis gun, so I picked up a 10T on sale to replace the 308. Not 3 months later I saw the 10T-SR sitting on the shelf!!
Oh, well... looks like I'll be paying a smith to thread that barrel.

Have been checking out local smiths who can thread mine. Have over 1000 rounds shot so have been considering rebarreling with a threaded barrel.

Well, if you're happy with the way it's shooting, I'd just get it threaded... my old stock 308 barrel had over 3000 rounds through it before it really started to show signs of age. If you were talking 2000+ I'd say go for new, but you've still got some life left there...
