for those that have them; should i opt for the adjustable comb? i have a sightron with 50mm objective mounted as close to the barrel as i could. with such configuration is the adjustable comb going to be needed? personal preference i know... whats your opinions?
(ive shot their varmint thumbhole and didnt notice a cheekweld problem)

The answer is yes!! I have a Sightron SIII 6-24x50 and I had to add a Blackhawk strap on cheek riser to get to the right height. I think the Adjustable comb will be just about right. Kinda wish I had added that option during production. I am running a 20 MOA rail also.
However, The Blackhawk works very well and it was only $22.00.

yep same sightron scope i have. good scopes.
ill opt for the adjustable then. no regrets that way...
That's for certain!!! Best scope I've ever owned or looked through... I can spot my own bullet holes at 200 yards now, more clearly than I can with the spotting scopes at my local range.Originally Posted by joe h
I looked through a Vortex PST 6-24x50 and I am so glad I went with the Sightron (even though I never got a chance to look through one before I bought it). I think it's much clearer than the PST and it was $200 cheaper at the time. Got mine in FFP, which I have never had before either.... the reticle gets a little small down on 6-9 X but when on 24X I can still see every one of my MOA hashmarks on the bottom post. The PST lost 3- or 4 of those haskmarks when on 24X. Only wish it had a Zero-stop function, but that's it.
I had bought a vortex pst 4-16, already had one siii. Ended up selling the vortex and getting another siii. I like them better. Zero stop would be nice!
How much do these pro varmints weigh? Below 3lbs right?adjustable comb will probably add a few ounces..

The Pro varmint weighs in at about 2.8 lbs.... But you have to order new bottom metal for the mag bottom, the trigger guard, and the mag housing. I went with all METAL for reliability reasons, so it's a bit heavier than that now. They do have the plastic bottom metal option which would reduce the weight a bit from mine.
The cheek riser will add more, but I don't know how much.
I'm going blind mag. This is going to be a 7saum, only going to hold 2 down there anyways...
I assume the metal trigger guard fits?

If it's going to be used as a "hunting" rifle and you will be carrying it.... You'll want to get some stippling of some kind as the stocks are rather slippery when they get wet.
Just another thing to think about,
the Metal trigger guard fits very well. I didn't have to make any mods to the stock or the trigger guard. Don't know if you saw the stippling recommendation, but I did post it just above.
